I dream while the birds sing

I dream, Jesus. I dream while the birds sing. ⁣

And what do you dream?⁣

I dream of Justice Righteousness Peace ⁣

Of Equality ⁣

Of God’s Kingdom on earth ⁣

Of God’s Kingdom in my city ⁣

Of God’s Kingdom in my heart ⁣

I dream ⁣

While ⁣

The birds sing ⁣

And what do you dream? ⁣

That every person can run. ⁣

That every person can sleep. ⁣

That every person can breathe. ⁣

Without fear ⁣

Without fear ⁣

Without fear ⁣

In freedom.⁣

I dream ⁣

While ⁣

The birds sing ⁣

and what do you dream?⁣

𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘪𝘳𝘥𝘴 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨? 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘴 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘯𝘰𝘵, 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘺? 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘰𝘥’𝘴 𝘒𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘥𝘰𝘮 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥, 𝘪𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘪𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵? ⁣

I dream, Jesus. I dream while the birds sing. ⁣

While the birds sing out my window, I dream of words. I dream of readers. I dream of Author as a descriptor to my name. ⁣

I’m scared. ⁣

I cry. ⁣

I cry because I’m scared. ⁣

I cry because I dream. ⁣

I cry because I long. ⁣

I cry because I hope.⁣

I cry because it’s true. ⁣

I dream ⁣

while the birds sing. ⁣

Their song is the melody to my dream. ⁣

And when I dream, I write. ⁣

I must write. ⁣

Sing ⁣

Dream⁣

Write. ⁣

𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮, 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰? 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶? 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘥𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘮𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴? 𝘉𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘹𝘵 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦. ⁣

What does your heart long for? Bring it into the presence of God and see what He says. In a moment of surrender, I dreamed dreams with God. As the birds sang outside my window on an ordinary Saturday afternoon, desires welled within me. In the light of God’s presence, I had courage: courage to dream, courage to write, and courage to recognize it as good.⁣
